MDC Online Students, faculty, staff and alumni Invited to Join ‘I AM MDC’ Campaign

“I AM MDC” campaign continues through September 30, with a $1.66 million fundraising goal supporting scholarships and student programs

MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, September 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Miami Dade College Online (MDC Online) is inviting its students, faculty, and staff to take part in Miami Dade College’s (MDC) annual “I AM MDC” campaign, a month-long initiative running from August 15 through September 30. While the campaign includes in-person events across all eight MDC campuses, its giving initiative and online community activations give MDC Online students a direct way to take part, even from a distance.

“I AM MDC” is more than a celebration. It is a movement that brings together students, alumni, faculty, staff, donors, and community partners to honor MDC’s history while investing in its future. Every dollar raised helps remove financial barriers for students through scholarships and essential resources, including support for the Honors College and the Presidential and Rising Scholars programs, programs that MDC Online students are also eligible to benefit from.

A $1.66 Million Goal, Building on Last Year’s Record
Following last year’s “I AM MDC” Day, which raised more than $1 million, MDC has set a $1.66 million fundraising goal for 2026, a figure that builds on the campaign’s momentum and its 2.5 million alumni community.

“Our students may never set foot on a physical campus, but they are just as much a part of the MDC family,” said Claudia Orrego, Director, MDC Online Support. “‘I AM MDC’ is a chance for our online community to celebrate that connection and support the same scholarships and programs that help all of our students succeed.”

That sense of one college extends to MDC Online’s students, who complete their coursework remotely but remain part of the same community the campaign celebrates.

How MDC Online Students Can Take Part
For students who cannot attend campus events in person, “I AM MDC” offers several ways to stay connected to the campaign:
– Give online. Donations can be made securely at givecampus.com/schools/MiamiDadeCollege/i-am-mdc-2026, supporting the same scholarships and student programs available to online learners.
– Follow “I AM MDC” Day. The campaign’s signature event takes place Sunday, September 6, at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins, as the campaign’s flagship fundraising event of the year.
– Visit a campus, if nearby. MDC Online students who live or work near a campus are welcome to attend that campus’s free community event during the month.

Free Events at All Eight Campuses
Throughout “I AM MDC” month, MDC is hosting free community events at all eight campuses, each spotlighting the programs, students, and community that make that campus distinct:

Thursday, September 3 — Medical Campus, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Sunday, September 6 — “I AM MDC” Day at loanDepot Park, 1:40 p.m.
Wednesday, September 9 — North Campus, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday, September 10 — Homestead Campus, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, September 16 — West Campus, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday, September 23 — Kendall Campus, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A Campaign Rooted in Access and Opportunity
Since its launch in 2016, “I AM MDC” has grown into the College’s signature fundraising campaign for philanthropy, pride, and community. It reflects MDC’s mission to open doors of opportunity, expand economic mobility, and transform lives through education, a mission MDC Online extends to students who need the flexibility to study from anywhere. Every dollar raised supports student scholarships, emergency assistance, academic programs, and other initiatives that help more than 125,000 students persist, graduate, and reach their goals.

Through “I AM MDC,” MDC has grown from a single campus serving a few hundred students into the largest and one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in the nation, with more than 2.5 million alumni. What began with a first graduating class of about 200 students in 1962 has grown into an institution that now graduates more than 15,000 students each year, including students who complete their degrees entirely online.
