Federally regulated OTC medicated shampoo with 1.80% salicylic acid, manufactured in the United States, is now available direct to consumers
NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Ys Pharma Inc. today announced the U.S. launch of Kadason, a medicated shampoo formulated specifically for seborrheic dermatitis. Kadason is available now to U.S. consumers through the brand’s direct-to-consumer website at ys-ph.com.
Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory condition of the scalp — distinct from ordinary dandruff, and one that tends to return even after symptoms appear to clear. It affects an estimated 5.86% of the U.S. population, above the global pooled prevalence of 4.38%, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis published in JAMA Dermatology (2024).
Despite how common the condition is, most shampoos on U.S. shelves are marketed for general dandruff rather than for seborrheic dermatitis specifically. Kadason enters the market as a product built expressly for that condition.
A shampoo made for the condition, not just the flakes
Kadason is a federally regulated over-the-counter product containing 1.80% salicylic acid, an active ingredient recognized under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s OTC Drug Monograph M032 for the control of the symptoms of seborrheic dermatitis. Used regularly, Kadason helps control the flaking, scaling, and itching associated with seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp.
The formulation is oil-free and silicone-free, and includes Tremella fuciformis extract, aloe vera, green tea extract, and dipotassium glycyrrhizate to support scalp hydration and comfort during ongoing use.
Built from personal experience
Kadason was developed in Japan in collaboration with pharmacists, and is manufactured in the United States to U.S. quality and manufacturing standards.
“I had seborrheic dermatitis myself for years — the sleepless nights, the constant itching, the self-consciousness in everyday conversations,” said Takayuki Yamamoto, Chief Executive Officer of Ys Pharma Inc. “I tried shampoo after shampoo, and none of them were made for what I actually had. Kadason came out of working closely with pharmacists to build something for people who live with this condition day to day — not just for the occasional flake.”
Availability
Kadason is available at ys-ph.com at a suggested retail price of $34.99. A subscription option is available at $27.99 per month.
