The MolinaCares Accord Presents $60,000 Grant to Feeding Missouri to Support Mobile Food Pantries

The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare (“Molina”), announced a $60,000 grant to Feeding Missouri. The grant will support six food banks across the state, including the Second Harvest Community Food Bank, Harvesters – The Community Food Network, Southeast Missouri Food Bank, The Food Bank For Central & Northeast Missouri, St. Louis Area Foodbank and Ozarks Food Harvest.

In Missouri, 12.7% of households face food insecurity and are unable to provide adequate food for one or more household members. Additionally, one in ten Missourians do not have access to nutritious foods. The Molina grant will be evenly distributed between the six local food banks and is expected to provide up to 240,000 meals across Missouri.

“Funding from the MolinaCares grant enables us to expand access to fresh and nutritious food on a more consistent basis through mobile food distributions,” said Leigh Anne Haun, executive director of Feeding Missouri. “With this support we are able to reach Missourians in areas of low food access both in our urban communities and in rural parts of the state.”

“Regular access to nutritious food is a critical determinant of health and Molina is committed to removing barriers in communities lacking access to this necessity,” said Jay Ludlam, plan president at Molina Healthcare of Missouri. “Molina’s partnership with Feeding Missouri aligns with our whole-person approach to wellness by providing high-quality health care and supporting efforts to meet non-medical needs that play a significant role in improving health outcomes.”
