The tool addresses the lack of a native backup mechanism for Intune profiles and helps recover from mistakes, test changes, and move profiles between tenants
SAN ANSELMO, CA, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SDM Software, The Configuration Experts, today announced the release of Intune Config Backup & Restore, a free Windows application designed to help IT administrators back up, restore, and transfer Microsoft Intune profiles. The tool bridges the gap created by native backup and recovery mechanisms, which protect Entra ID objects but not Intune configurations.
The free tool by SDM Software allows you to back up profiles selectively or in bulk. Before importing profiles, the Intune Config Backup & Restore scans for conflicts and gives administrators control over how to handle them, including overwriting, renaming, or skipping existing profiles. It also supports GUID-based policy matching.
Intune Config Backup & Restore helps avoid manual recovery that can mean rebuilding profiles from scratch and spending hours troubleshooting what changed. Visit our blog to learn more about the tool and download it right away.
For a comprehensive approach to Intune and Group Policy change management—where changes are automatically backed up, version-controlled, reviewed, approved, and can be rolled back to any previous version—check Change Manager for Group Policy and Intune.
