Archwell Capital Names Mike Middleman Chief Executive Officer and Makes Key Executive Appointments

RADNOR, Pa., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Archwell Capital, a private investment management company with businesses in financial services, real estate, technology and professional sports, has named Mike Middleman Chief Executive Officer. Archwell Capital has more than 40 current and former investments, including wholly owned companies which serve hundreds of corporate clients and employ more than 10,000 people around the globe.

As CEO, Middleman will be heavily focused on scaling Archwell Capital’s already successful investments and operating companies, as well as deploying new capital across mortgage, insurance, commercial real estate, professional sports, and the other industries in which Archwell Capital operates.

Middleman becomes CEO of Archwell Capital after a decade in senior leadership roles at Freedom Mortgage, one of the nation’s largest mortgage lenders and servicers, where he remains Vice Chairman. He is also a co-founder of Moder, Archwell Capital’s business intelligence company, whose proprietary AI and operations teams help financial institutions increase efficiency and reduce risk, and where he remains Executive Chairman. He has also been closely involved in building BrightCover, Archwell Capital’s insurance business.

Middleman holds bachelor’s degrees in both finance and accounting from Hofstra University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

The company also announced several key executive leadership appointments:

  • James Blanco has been named Chief Operating Officer of Archwell Capital and president of Archwell Reinsurance. Blanco joined from Guggenheim Partners, where he was a Senior Managing Director in the financial services practice. He previously served as an Executive Vice President of OneMain Financial. Earlier in his career, he held a series of positions of increasing responsibility in debt capital markets and corporate finance at Barclays Bank. He is a graduate of Columbia Business School.
  • Raj Patel has been named Chief Financial Officer, overseeing Archwell Capital’s financial strategy, planning and reporting. Patel joined from Freedom Mortgage, where he led the finance function for several years.
  • Kat Rugge has been named Chief People Officer, responsible for talent, culture and organizational design across Archwell Capital and its operating companies.
  • Jordan Glick has been named Chief Investment Officer, responsible for investment strategy and oversight across Archwell Capital’s real estate, sports and early-stage investments.
  • Matt Harbus has been named Chief Strategy Officer, building on his prior role as an Executive Vice President at Freedom Mortgage, where he oversaw origination sales and the servicing contact center responsible for more than $650 billion in loans. He has also overseen Archwell Capital’s technology work, including the partnership between Moder and Palantir Technologies.
  • Kristin McHale-Johnson has been named Chief AI Officer in the Office of the CEO, working with Archwell Capital’s operating companies on their technology roadmap and industry partnerships.
  • Melissa Rubenstein has been named General Counsel, overseeing Archwell Capital’s legal and compliance functions. She joins following over 20 years of private practice in a multinational law firm serving clients in the financial services industry and following a stint as General Counsel for a multistate construction company in a regulated industry.
